Well done Mike Binstead on becoming the new southern counties middleweight champion. A spilt decision win going to the right boxer on the night. Mike had a dodgy 1st round just doing the same thing and not cutting off and giving the opponent to much range, loosing that round. The 2nd round Mike started to put the combos together as he closed the gap and just winning that round. The 3rd Mike pick it right up and boxed with pressure in mid and short range, winning that round.
We are now back in the gym for 2017 and in training for our open show on April 6th at Sarisbury Green Social Club, with hopes to get 10 of our carded boxers matched on the night. We hope to see you all there.
Our last outing of 2016 was at the Legacy ABC show, Luke Graham competed in his first bout, showing a good display of his power and bent arm shots against an opponent who was quite relentless in the amount of shots he was throwing, Luke dealt with the vast amount of shots being thrown and managed to hurt his opponent on more than one occasion, not quite enough for the win this time but we expect big things from Luke in the future.
We had Jack Higgins-Burnett and Harvey Newton box at the Stacey abc show on 10th December 2016, both lads putting on good performances, another close bout for Jack against a previous opponent unfortunately falling short of the win.
I thought Harvey done enough to get the decision but again it didn't go his way today.
Proud of both boys, boxing to instruction and putting what they've learnt in the gym into practice.
Keep working at it lads you've both got a bright future in the sport ahead of you.
On the 4th December 2016 Sam Nuttall boxed in the semi finals of the NABGC's (National Association of Boys and Girls Clubs) championships, Sam put on a brilliant perfomance showing huge improvement against a well schooled opponent from Repton ABC, unfortunately Sam fell short and didnt get the win but the club is immensely proud of him for his determination.
Another cracking dinner show at the Portsmouth guildhall last night for Titchfield abc.
After the scales we ended up with 9 quality bouts, that included 5 Titchfield lads 5 Royal Navy lads and boxers from Golden Ring, Team wiseman, Stacey abc, Poole abc, legacy abc, Ventnor abc, Basingstoke abc and Lawrance abc.
We had a bit of a mixed bag with the results last night, First up was Adam Leonard Lodge, loosing on the night. Not boxed for 3 years and came back to the gym for this show 10 weeks ago, in his first 3x3s against an even matched opponent he could of taken control and won the bout but the ring rust held him back.
Second up was Dave Berry, winning his bout but had to dig deep at times and use his experience against a game lad that met him in the middle. Again dave came back to the gym for this show 10 weeks ago and has not boxed for 3 years.
Third up was Kieran Hughes, winning his bout with a great display of boxing and taking hold of the Southern Counties Welterweight belt.
Fourth up was Mike Binstead, loosing BUT what a cracking porformance against a lad who is in the next level. Mike held his own and gave the opponent things to think about at times as well as boxing very smart with a good defence.
Last on our Mike Michael Brown, Loosing a very very close bout, all on the last round again. Mike boxed well at times but did not seem to have that hunger and snap in his work as we know he has, it could of been his night but he just did not turn up.
Would just like to say to all of you lads that keep on coming to the gym training like warriors, doing the sprints and conditioning in and out of the gym, without you boys we just would not have shows like this to put on.
Titchfield abc would like to thank all that was involved with our show last night.

Well done Tommy.
